Recently, it was brought to my attention that I’m featured on a review site for plus-sized folks, on a list of 99 body positive boudoir photographers from across the globe. Honestly, I about fell over when I opened that email from the beautiful lady that runs that website.
It’s so very important to me to be inclusive in my studio space. I’ve spent a long time in this industry. I’ve found that in certain genres it’s sometimes hard to find representation of all body types. Even all sexualities. It can feel sometimes when you’re looking for a photographer to work with, that nobody wants to work with you if you’re a bigger lady, in a same-sex partnership, or aren’t “conventionally beautiful”. This has seriously GOT TO STOP.
I’m here to tell you that EVERY body is beautiful and worthy of a photography session I don’t care if you’re a size 000 or a size 42, straight, bi, gay, or non-binary, you are welcome in my body positive boudoir studio. You are welcome in ANY type of session with me.
Body Positive Boudoir: Not Just another Trend
If you’re a photographer reading this, I challenge you to take a look at your own portfolio. When was the last time you had a same-sex couple in front of your lens? A big, beautiful, curvy lady? Are you truly representing all bodies? All types of people? I know that my own portfolio isn’t perfect and probably could use some work. So I’m not here to throw you under the bus or anything, I’d just love to encourage you to take a step back and really think about the types of people you want to attract to work with you. If you want to work with more same-sex couples, guess what, friends? You need to show that in your portfolio. It’s really as easy as just running a model call. So, what are you waiting for?
Keep scrolling to see some of my favourites from some of my past sessions. Yes, you’ll find ALL types of people in my portfolio. And that’s not about to change. 😉
