If you’ve been considering booking a boudoir session for yourself, you’re probably wondering what a typical shoot day looks like from start to finish in our Regina, Sk or Nelson, BC boudoir studio!
When you arrive to the studio on your session day, the first thing we’ll do is lay out everything you brought for outfit options. I’ll ask you if you have any very favourite pieces you want to make sure we incorporate into your shoot.
Hair and Makeup
From there, we’ll get you started in hair and makeup! Depending on what day you’re in our Regina SK studio you’ll be greeted by either Arianna or Rocelyn who are both professionally trained makeup artists who are here to help you look and feel your best! They will ask you if you have any preferences for your hair or makeup and then they’ll get to work. We also have a team of stylists for our Nelson BC boudoir studio who are excited to help you feel amazing.
During this time, I’ll hang out and chat with you as well as finish prepping for our boudoir session. This is a bit of time for us to get to know each other before your shoot. I find that my clients really appreciate this part of the shoot day as it helps them feel more comfortable with me, and it puts their nerves to rest. Feeling nervous when you arrive at the studio, or during hair and makeup is totally normal which is why I love to take this part of the day to chat with my clients and get to know them a little better. At that time I’ll also pull any items from our client closet I think you may like and put together some amazing outfits for our session!
Once hair and makeup is complete we’ll head straight into the studio and get to work! This is where the REAL fun begins.
During our shoot I’ll check in with you often to make sure you’re feeling comfortable and relaxed. I’ll show you each and every pose that I want you to replicate for the camera, and I’ll work within your physical limitations if you have any. (Bad knees? I’m sure not going to make you kneel on the hardwood floor!) I will also be coaching you on your facial expressions, where to look, and everything in between. The last thing we want is for you to feel like you don’t know what you’re doing. I also don’t want you to be worried that what you’re doing looks good to the camera! My job is to help you look and feel your best, too.
After about an hour of shooting we’ll wrap up our session. I will send you away for about 90 minutes while I prep your images for your same-day reveal! You can grab lunch or a coffee, head home for a bit, or take that as an opportunity for a bit of extra “me-time” before heading back to the studio to see your images.
The Big Reveal
After your break, you’ll get to see all of your images for the first time! This is also when you’ll choose your favourite images to be printed. We offer a wide range of products to showcase your portraits like albums, matted prints, and our gorgeous metal wall art.
Once we’ve finished with your reveal, we’re all done! Typically albums and prints take about 4-6 weeks to come back from my lab. So, if you need your products by a specific date keep please let me know when booking. This way we can plan your session date accordingly! It is best to book your shoot no later than 2 months prior to your deadline. This allows us plenty of time to make sure everything is ready for the date you need. We typically book clients anywhere up to six months in advance but do sometimes have last minute openings.
